Clinical Focus:

Research Focus/Interests: Our work focuses on cancer biotherapy. Apoptin, a protein from chicken anemia virus VP3, which can induce the tumor cells and transformation cells apoptosis selectively, but has no influence on normal cells. We prepare the PTD4-apoptin fusion protein, and confirm that it can induce the cervical carcinoma, gastric carcinoma, hepatic carcinoma, lung carcinoma, and melanoma.

Biography

Dr. Sun is currently appointed as the deputy chair of Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Dr. Sun graduated from the School of Biochemistry Engineering, East China Institute of Chemical Technology, and obtained his Ph.D. degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He has been engaged in teaching and research work of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from 1997. As a visiting scholar at Leiden university in 2007-2008. He has received fund support from the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Key R&D Project (863 Project).
