Biography

Dr. Hu is the Director of Department of Pathophysiology, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Deputy Director of the Key La-boratories of Pulmonary Diseases of Ministry of Public Health of China. He has won the title of Distinguished Professor of Tongji Medical College. He has served as a member and leader of review panel of National Natural Science Foundation of China, as well as a grant reviewer of American Heart Association and Welcome Trust UK.

He earned his Medical Doctoral Degree in 1989 and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Physiology in 1994 from Tongji Medical University. He received his post-doctoral training in endothelial biology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and joined the faculty as an Instructor and Assistant Professor in tenure-track at Johns Hopkins from 1996 to 2006. He then returned to Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology as a Professor.

Dr. Hu has been engaged in teaching for medical students and graduates. His research focuses on respiratory and circulatory diseases, particularly pulmonary hypertension and vascular endothelial injury. He has received successive grants and honors from American Association for Medical Research, American Heart Association, National Natural Science Foundation of China (including key projects) and Ministry of Science and Technology of China. He has extensive publications in prestigious journals includ-ing Lancet, Circulation, Circulation Research, Journal of Biological Chemistry, Journal of Cell Science, Hypertension, Arterioscler Thromb Vasc Biol and American Journal of Physiology.
