On November 4th, the opening ceremony of 2023 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application (Hubei) was held in the Mingde Conference Hall of Wutongyu Academic Exchange Center, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). During the Session 2 of Unveiling Ceremony, Prof. Jianguo Chen, Vice President of HUST, together with Prof. Ingrid Fleming, Member of the Academy of Europe, Member of German National Academy of Sciences, Chairperson of the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Director of the Institute for Vascular Signaling of Goethe University, unveiled the plaque of Sino-German Laboratory of CardioPulmonary Science.
Prof. Jiong Hu from the School of Basic Medicine and Prof. Daowen Wang from Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College of HUST have conducted long-term and productive cooperation with Prof. Ingrid Fleming from Goethe University, maintaining regular academic and personnel exchanges.
Prof. Fleming was awarded Guest Professor of HUST in 2018 and was appointed as Advisory Professor of HUST in May, 2023 which is a higher-level and permanent title for foreign experts since she has played an important role in promoting the cooperation and exchanges between personnel of both institutions. In June 2023, thanks to efforts of Prof. Jiong Hu and Prof. Fleming, both institutions signed “Cooperation Agreement on Establishing the Sino-German Laboratory of CardioPulmonary Science” between HUST and Goethe University to jointly develop new treatment strategies for cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases.
On November 6th, Prof. Fleming gave a lecture titled “From hyperpolarization to heart failure - role of novel lipid mediators” in the Academic Lecture Hall of Tongji Medical College, HUST. The lecture was hosted by Prof. Jianguo Chen, Vice President of HUST. Moreover, Prof. Fleming also visited the Department of Pharmacology of the School of Basic Medicine and talked with researchers there. It is hoped that both parties can take this opportunity to enhance the understanding and mutual trust, thus laying a foundation for in-depth and comprehensive cooperation in the future.
