In January 2022, the textbook Physiology was published by Science Press with Youming LU, a professor at Department of Pathophysiology and meanwhile Dean of the School of Basic Medicine, and Prof. Zhi'an HU from Army Medical University as chief editors.
The textbook Physiology embraces 12 chapters including introduction, basic functions of cells, blood, circulation and so on, each of which consists of key points, text, key terms and exercises. More importantly, relevant clinical cases are available in many chapters. What's more, this science-based textbook with high readability also incorporates outstanding Chinese physiologists and physiological events in modern times as part of its efforts to increase students' sense of social responsibility and encourage them to explore.
An introduction to chief editor Youming LU
Prof. LU is Dean of the School of Basic Medicine, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. He leads the Institute of Brain Research and serves as executive director of Chinese Association for Physiological Sciences, chairman of Hubei Association of Physiology, and director of Wuhan Brain Science Center. He was a full professor of Louisiana State University and got tenure there before returning to China. In 2018, the teacher team of the School of Basic Medicine, under the leadership of Prof. LU, was selected into the first batch of "National University Huang Danian Teacher Team" which was launched by the Ministry of Education to recognize teachers as outstanding as deceased Prof. Huang. With plenty of findings published in Cell, Science, Neuron, Nature Neuroscience and other internationally famous journals, some of Prof. LU's findings have been quoted in textbooks by Nobel Laureate John O´Keef.
