School of Basic Medicine held sub-forums of the 10th East Lake International Forum for Outstanding Overseas Young Scholars


The 10th "East Lake International Forum for Outstanding Overseas Young Scholars" was held online due to Covid-19. School of Basic Medicine has successfully held sub-forums from December 27 to 28, 2021 with 19 overseas scholars from world-known universities participated.

   

On December 27, Prof. Youming LU, Dean of School of Basic Medicine, Xuanbin QIN, Secretary of the School Party Committee, as well as all department chairs attended the sub-forum which was held in the conference room of Building 2. Vice Dean Anbing SHI presided over the forum. With the topic of "Life in Science", Prof. Lu elaborated on the prospect and meaning of scientific research. He also introduced the basic situation of School of Basic Medicine, for example, its talent pool, and warmly welcomed young scholars to join the School. Xuanbin QIN said that both Huazhong University of Science and Technology and School of Basic Medicine attach great importance on the career development of faculty so that he promised to offer talents introduced a sound environment for scientific research. Department chairs gave further introduction to online scholars about the discipline development and talent demand of their departments.

    

On December 28, two parallel sessions, hosted by Vice Dean Anbing SHI and Bo TIAN respectively, were held in Building 2. Nineteen overseas scholars got access to in-depth academic exchanges through the online platform. They introduced in detail their research interests, achievements and work plan after returning to China. After that, School leaders explained to those scholars the application of scientific research projects, the enrollment of graduate students and other issues concerning them after they return to China.

   

"East Lake International Forum for Outstanding Overseas Young Scholars" has attracted the participation of more than 2400 young scholars from over 30 countries since its inception in 2012. It serves as an important platform for young scholars worldwide to communicate and for the University to expand its talent pool.
